We had another first as parents this week: the stomach flu. Luckily, or unluckily, depending on your perspective, Ben's vomiting never happened on the carpet or in his bed. It was always on Brant or I. Disgusting, yes. However, just a toss in the washing machine was the upside! Poor Ben.
I also had my first experience getting stuck in our own driveway this week. We had another blizzard on Monday and after taking Ben to the doctor after school (which took an hour and half and he cried almost the whole time), I was feeling a little frazzled. Getting stuck was kind of the icing on the cake. As much as I tried to gain speed up the hill to make it to the garage, the drifts from the blowing snow were too much for my little Focus. We never did manage to get my car all the way to the garage, but Brant was at least able to back up and get it into our circle drive facing downhill so I could let gravity help me the next morning!
During the ice storm last week, I had to get creative for our day in the house during snow day #5. Beyond the regular play-doh time, coloring, trucks, cars, and books, I filled the kitchen sink with bubbles and let Ben go to town. As you can see, he really enjoyed it!

Sorry about the stomach flu. I have a case of the winter blahs too and if you think entertaining one child is hard, try entertaining three kids who are stuck in the house. Hang in there and here's hoping spring will come soon!
ReplyDeleteI have the winter blahs too. I'm sick of the snow days that are eating up my summer, the snow outside, the freezing weather...all of it. I need spring! And I also hear you on the stomach flu thing...ick, and don't the little ones look so vulnerable? It just about killed me a couple months ago when Evaline had it...
ReplyDeleteThat's why it's good to live somewhere warm... not to rub it in. :)
